A comprehensive breakdown of the upcoming Netflix docuseries, WWE Unreal, has been revealed, detailing the focus of each of the five episodes. The series, set to premiere on July 29, will offer a behind-the-scenes look at the company’s creative process, chronicling the period from the debut of WWE RAW on Netflix in January 2025 through WrestleMania 41 and its aftermath in April.
Produced by Omaha Productions, NFL Films, Skydance Sports, and WWE, the series has been compared to the acclaimed HBO series Hard Knocks. The production is helmed by director Chris Weaver and showrunner Erik Powers, both veterans of NFL Films, lending the project a distinct documentary style.
Episode-by-Episode Breakdown
Recent reports provide a clear roadmap for the docuseries’ first season.
The series premiere will focus on the historic debut of Monday Night RAW on Netflix from the Intuit Dome, highlighting the main event between CM Punk and Seth Rollins, while also featuring Cody Rhodes and Rhea Ripley.
Episode two shifts the focus to the Men’s Royal Rumble. The installment will cover the build-up to the ladder match between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens, culminating in Jey Uso’s victory in the Royal Rumble match itself.
The third episode is dedicated entirely to the women’s division. It will track key moments including Chelsea Green’s U.S. Championship win, Charlotte Flair’s return from injury, and both the women’s Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber matches. A segment will also be dedicated to Bianca Belair, and the Rumble coverage will reportedly feature a continuous, single-wrestler tracking shot.
Episode four will explore John Cena’s significant heel turn at Elimination Chamber and the extensive measures taken to keep the move a secret. This episode is set to feature appearances from Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, former writer Brian Gewirtz, and will be the only episode where WWE President Nick Khan speaks, all expected to discuss the decision behind Cena’s character shift.
The season finale will be centered on WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas. Key matches covered include Gunther vs. Jey Uso, the triple threat for the WWE Championship, the women’s triple threat match, and the Undisputed WWE Championship clash between Cody Rhodes and John Cena. The series concludes with a scene of Triple H receiving creative notes for the following night’s RAW, emphasizing the non-stop nature of the creative cycle.
Filming for the series is reportedly still in progress, with a second season already anticipated for 2026.
