Disappointing Update on Orange Cassidy’s AEW Return

The wait for Orange Cassidy’s return to an AEW ring will continue, as recent updates indicate the former International Champion is not expected back “any time soon” while he recovers from a significant injury.

A report from June 29 confirmed Cassidy remains sidelined indefinitely. While a non-wrestling television appearance is possible, he is expected to be out of action for “quite some time.” His absence has been notable, with Cassidy having competed in only six matches in 2025 before the injury.

Cassidy has been out of action since the March 19 episode of AEW Dynamite. He is believed to have sustained a torn pectoral muscle during a four-way AEW International Championship Eliminator match that also featured Ricochet, “Speedball” Mike Bailey, and Mark Davis.

During a media scrum on April 7, AEW President Tony Khan officially confirmed the injury. Khan lamented that the company had been “bit hard by an injury bug,” classifying the loss of both Cassidy and Jay White as having two of the company’s “top stars” taken out of action.

Given the severity of a torn pectoral muscle, the recovery window is lengthy. Reports have suggested a timeline of over six months, a period consistent with similar injuries in the sport. For comparison, Cody Rhodes was sidelined from June 2022 to January 2023 with the same injury, highlighting the long road to recovery that likely lies ahead for Cassidy.
