Dominik Mysterio tops ESPN list, surpasses AEW major star

Dominik Mysterio tops ESPN's 30 under 30 wrestling list as father Rey discusses their strained relationship and uncertain future reconciliation.

Dominik Mysterio

Dominik Mysterio has claimed the number one spot on ESPN’s annual 30 under 30 wrestling list, dethroning former champion MJF who held the position in 2023. The 27-year-old WWE star jumped from fifth place last year to the top ranking.

ESPN’s list evaluates wrestlers based on current merit rather than future potential, considering factors such as drawing power, popularity, skills, roster position, and accomplishments. In their assessment of Mysterio, ESPN praised his ability to generate audience reaction and character development.

“The son of the legendary luchador Rey Mysterio has become the ultimate heat magnet in pro wrestling,” ESPN noted. “From his mullet and cartoon villain mustache, to his dastardly relationship with Liv Morgan, which only amplified the hate, Mysterio has cemented himself into a full-blown heel in an era where there are far too many ‘cool’ bad guys.”

Former AEW World Champion MJF secured the second spot, followed by Toni Storm at third and Rhea Ripley at fourth. The list features talent from various promotions, including WWE, AEW, and international wrestling organizations.

Rey Mysterio uncertain about future reunion with Dominik

While Dominik Mysterio’s career continues to rise, his father Rey Mysterio recently expressed uncertainty about their potential reconciliation. Speaking at ComplexCon during Cheap Heat with Peter Rosenberg Live, Rey discussed the challenging relationship with his son following their split at Clash at the Castle 2022.

“That’s something that, as a father, they would always love to have with their kids, to be able to reconnect and end off how you started, on the good side,” Rey said. “I don’t know if that’s going to happen. Over the years, people change, sometimes for good and sometimes for bad.”
