TNA star Elijah, formerly known as Elias in WWE, has voiced his confusion over how the company handled the success of his 2020 EP, Universal Truth. During a video interview with Inside the Ropes, Elijah questioned why WWE failed to capitalize on the album after it hit #1 on the iTunes Charts, an accomplishment he believes was quickly disregarded.
“They have their own talent write a number one iTunes album, and they almost don’t make any mention of that ever,” Elijah said, according to Fightful. “I don’t understand why you don’t capitalize on that… send me to the Country Music Awards. It’s like, then let me be a representative for WWE as we move to this music stuff.”
He detailed how the internal support for the project seemed to vanish almost immediately. “But it was like three weeks later… they don’t even mention it on TV anymore,” he explained. Elijah added that when he personally tried to reference his achievement in his own promos, the line would be cut by creative. “I couldn’t understand it, because they invested in the whole music project in the first place.”
This frustration was a symptom of a larger issue for the performer, who was released from his WWE contract on September 21, 2023. Before his departure, Elijah had grown disillusioned with his role, feeling he was relegated to brief segments and was not content to simply “collect a paycheck.” The situation led him to consider quitting professional wrestling entirely.
After his WWE exit, he began performing on the independent circuit before signing with TNA. He is currently out of action after undergoing tricep surgery.
