Ex-WWE Champion Explains Real Reason Behind No Return Plan

Mandy Rose addressed the question of her potential wrestling comeback during a recent episode of her Power Alphas podcast. The former NXT Women’s Champion, who WWE released in December 2022, explained the physical barriers currently preventing her return to the ring.

Rose revealed that a recent visit to a chiropractor uncovered concerning spinal issues that make a wrestling return impractical at present.

My number one question, across all social media, is always, ‘When are you coming back to wrestling? Are you going to have a return?’ Obviously, I speak about it a lot and try to answer questions as best as I can. I never know if there is going to be a return in the future for me, but recently Sabby and I saw a chiropractor. There is a little trauma in the cervical spine area.

The examination identified specific spinal problems resulting from her athletic career, including her eight years in professional wrestling.

Nothing too crazy, thankfully, but after eight years of wrestling and years before that of bodybuilding and putting bars on my back and playing sports, dancing, all of that puts a huge toll on your spine. I’m really learning how much it involves your spine in general. Basically, I have some degeneration in some of my discs, which wouldn’t really be a thing if I didn’t have little symptoms.

Rose described the specific symptoms that prompted her to seek medical attention, leading to the diagnosis of spinal degeneration in her cervical vertebrae.

I had been getting tingling in my hands, which comes and goes with me, but it started getting kind of bad. Went to a chiropractor, got an x-ray, and found out I had some arthritis in the C6, C7, C8 area, some degeneration in my discs. I’m getting some treatment. Right now, I feel like a wrestling return for me wouldn’t really make much sense because of the wear and tear it does on your body. Not to say that it can’t happen in the future. I don’t need surgery or anything like that, thank God. I’m doing a deep compression machine and getting some adjustments. It’s good that I’m taking care of this now.

Beyond the physical limitations, Rose pointed to her current career opportunities and lifestyle as additional factors influencing her decision.

Just for all the people who are always asking (about a return), maybe right now it’s not something that is in my cards, necessarily. With everything else I have going on and avenues that I have, I have so much more freedom now and time to be able to do other things and projects we have in the works and be my own boss, which is something that I really love.

Since her WWE departure, Rose has maintained limited contact with wrestling. She appeared at the BLP Wrestler’s Combine in September 2024 and has participated in various fan conventions, but has largely focused on ventures outside the wrestling industry.
