Ex-WWE in AEW breaks silence on Chelsea Green’s achievement: “Proud of her”

Matt Cardona expressed pride in Chelsea Green’s achievement as the inaugural WWE Women’s United States Champion, reflecting on her journey to the milestone during a video message shared on Twitter.

“Chelsea Green, new – first-ever – Women’s United States Champion. Beyond proud of her. I can’t even put into words how proud of her I am,” Cardona said. “I wish I was there, Long Island, but I’m here, I’m working and she understands that.”

Green secured the championship by defeating Michin in the tournament finals at the December 14 Saturday Night’s Main Event show. Cardona recalled Green’s path to the title, including previous setbacks with WWE.

“I saw this girl get rejected from WWE, had to beg for tryouts, then got a job, then got fired. Worked her ass off on the indies, then got back. So she’s earned this,” Cardona noted.

He also highlighted Green’s tribute to his former WWE character during her victory, saying, “She wore one-legged tights, Zack Ryder style. Did the Rough Ryder on Long Island, so thanks, babe. I appreciate you.”
