Maven has voiced strong support for MJF, stating on his YouTube channel that the wrestling business needs the former AEW World Champion. During an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Maven also revealed that he personally invited MJF to appear on his show, an offer MJF declined.

Maven explained the exchange and his admiration for MJF’s recent mainstream success, which includes a role in the new Happy Gilmore film on Netflix.

“I love him, though I love watching him. I’m so happy to see his success, the new Happy Gilmore that recently came out on Netflix,” Maven said. “The wrestling business needs, in my opinion, MJF. I reached out to him and asked him, you know, sent him through text, ‘Hey, I’d love to have you on the channel.’ I appreciated his answer. His answer was, ‘No, not at this time.’ I respected him saying no. I hope you get him for the second time.”

Maven’s high praise comes as MJF himself has been vocal about the nature of criticism within the wrestling world.

The former champion recently issued a public clarification about comments he made regarding wrestling podcasters. He stated his criticism was aimed at “talentless losers” who never succeeded in the sport and attack companies like AEW and WWE for profit, confirming his words were not directed at Bully Ray.

The clarification was prompted by fan speculation connecting his original post to Bully Ray, who had recently described AEW as a “lost” product and stated that Tony Khan is “not a booker.”

In his initial comments, MJF argued that opinions from unsuccessful figures should not be taken seriously, comparing it to hypothetical critiques of the NBA or MLB from failed players in those sports.
