A marquee triple threat match for the WWE Women’s Championship at Wrestlepalooza is now in doubt following a legitimate injury to reigning champion Tiffany Stratton.
The incident occurred on last week’s SmackDown during Stratton’s title defense against Jade Cargill. After executing a moonsault to the outside, Stratton landed awkwardly, and the contest ended in a double count-out. Moments later, Nia Jax launched a post-match assault but was reportedly cautious in her attack given Stratton’s condition.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Stratton sustained a concussion. The setback has thrown WWE’s Wrestlepalooza plans into uncertainty, particularly after the scheduled triple threat match was inadvertently leaked through an official event t-shirt.
WWE has already addressed the situation publicly. Stratton was pulled from this week’s NXT Homecoming special, with the company announcing she was not medically cleared to compete.
Stratton remains the official WWE Women’s Champion, but her recovery timeline is unknown. The injury comes during a career-defining year in which she captured the title at WrestleMania and successfully cashed in her Money in the Bank contract.
Attention now turns to tonight’s episode of SmackDown, where WWE is expected to provide an update on both Stratton’s status and the future of the championship match at Wrestlepalooza.
