A segment of the WWE fanbase is demanding Nia Jax’s termination after an incident on the September 26 episode of SmackDown at the Kia Center in Orlando left Jade Cargill legitimately injured. The controversy erupted during the main event, a triple threat bout for the WWE Women’s Title that also included champion Tiffany Stratton.
Cargill’s injury occurred after a ringside exchange with Jax involving the steel steps. The impact left her with a cut above her eyebrow that required medical attention. According to TC WrestleVotes, the injury was legitimate and forced a sudden change in the planned finish. Producer Tyson Kidd reportedly made the call to restructure the closing sequence mid-match.
Backlash quickly escalated on social media (via Ringside News). Some fans accused Jax of deliberately causing harm. “Nia Jax did this on purpose to Jade,” one user wrote. “No wrestler is to finish a Irish whip or push that close to an obstacle full force bc that gives your opponent no time to react to defend themselves. She then laughed about it. How disgusting.”
Criticism of Jax’s ring work is not new. Several fans pointed to a pattern of unsafe performances. “I’ve been saying it for a couple of years Nia Jax is too stiff in the ring,” one tweet read. “This b—h is sloppy and unsafe in the ring.” Another recalled a past incident: “Did the same to kiari sane in the pandemic era and she nearly had her skull caved in.”
The backlash culminated in direct calls for her firing. “Fire Nia Jax,” one user posted. “That fat tub of lard with no talent is an absolute embarrassment.” Another wrote that she should “get the boot BY FAR the worst woman’s wrestler in the industry.”
Despite the disruption, the contest concluded with Stratton retaining her championship. She pinned Jax after hitting the Prettiest Moonsault Ever. Stratton’s celebration was cut short when Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer appeared, leading to a tense staredown between the two champions to close the broadcast.
