Former World Champion expresses interest in final WWE match against CM Punk
Jeff Hardy proposes retirement match with CM Punk while Punk honors Cena at MSG, hinting at future storylines.
Jeff Hardy has proposed a potential retirement match against CM Punk in WWE. During an appearance at HOG Live event, The Charismatic Enigma outlined his vision for concluding his wrestling career.
Hardy shared his perspective on returning to WWE for a final chapter.
Ultimately, man, I’d like to do a really cool match in the WWE and do the Hall of Fame and all that stuff to really end it on the highest note possible. Because looking back at my career now, the history is just a glimpse, like a blink of an eye, when you achieve so much and then you’re here at this point, older in life. So it’d really be special to have a killer match, maybe make CM Punk retire, and then, go into the Hall of Fame.
The concept draws from their memorable 2009 rivalry, which blended storyline elements with authentic tension, ultimately leading to Punk’s transformative heel run and iconic “pipebomb” promo. A potential WrestleMania 42 double retirement match would bring their story full circle.

The timing of Punk’s tribute gains significance as Cena begins his farewell tour, suggesting potential interest in a future confrontation between the two veterans.
