Former WWE Champion confirms he will never wrestle again; rules out match against John Cena

A WWE Hall of Famer has ruled out ever returning to the ring again and has made it clear he won’t have a match with John Cena in his retirement tour. Kurt Angle, who hasn’t wrestled since WrestleMania 35 in 2019, has put rumors about him potentially getting out of retirement down the line, to rest for good.

The Leader of Cenation will embark upon his retirement tour in 2025. He has already been confirmed for next year’s Royal Rumble in Indianapolis. As expected, fans have been speculating about which performers Cena could face during his final year in wrestling. One of the names that popped up is that of Kurt Angle, against who him John Cena had his first main roster match in WWE in 2002.

However, in a recent interview with The Takedown, Angle confirmed that fans shouldn’t expect him to face Cena next year. Kurt Angle went on to explain how he recently underwent back surgery and would next require a shoulder replacement, making it close to impossible for him ever to wrestle again:

“A lot of people ask me if I’d wrestle Cena for his retirement match. No, no—I mean, listen, my body needs replacements. I’ve had five neck surgeries, back surgery last year, and I need shoulder replacements. I’m in no condition to be getting in the ring and wrestling. (H/T – Ringside News)

Sam Roberts wants John Cena to lose to Randy Orton in his last match in WWE

A few days back on his NotSam Wrestling podcast, Sam Roberts named his pick for whom The Leader of Cenanation should have his final match in WWE. The RAW Talk host believes that going by their storied history, Cena should face and lose to Randy Orton in his retirement match before walking away into the sunset:

”People love John Cena. The last John Cena match is just going to be about saying goodbye to Joh Cena, and what better way to say goodbye to John Cena than Randy Orton beating him?”

While it remains to be seen what WWE has in store for John Cena’s final hurrah, it’s safe to say his last few matches could leave his legions of fans misty-eyed.
