Priscilla Kelly, known in WWE as Gigi Dolin, recently opened up about a period of “really bad depression” that left her feeling lost during her final year in NXT. Speaking on the Ringiders show, the former two-time NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion explained how behind-the-scenes issues and creative stagnation within Toxic Attraction led to a severe mental health struggle.
She said the problems grew as her role in the group stalled, causing a decline in both motivation and self-care. “Somewhere toward that last year of being with Toxic Attraction, I went through like a really bad depression—um, for various reasons behind the scenes—but I went through a really bad mental state where, like, I wasn’t myself anymore. I didn’t feel like myself. I felt lost. I felt very stagnant. And, you know, I put on weight, and I stopped caring about how I looked in the ring because I was so depressed.”
Kelly admitted her depression became visible in every aspect of her presentation, from in-ring work to physical condition. “It showed in my work. It showed in my body. It showed in my mannerisms and everything,” she said. “And I lost a big part of myself during that chunk of time.”
Her transition to singles competition after Toxic Attraction dissolved did not provide the creative reset she had hoped for. Instead, she described her booking as a frustrating cycle of brief pushes followed by abrupt halts, which she called “very stop-start, stop-start.”
Kelly acknowledged her mental state may have contributed, stressing she takes responsibility for not always delivering her best. “Part of that could have been because I wasn’t in the best place mentally and I maybe wasn’t giving my best performances at that time. And I do take accountability for that. But it didn’t help my state of mind to be given the ball and then have it taken away, and given the ball and then have it taken away.”
Her WWE run began in January 2021 and was defined by her success in Toxic Attraction alongside Mandy Rose and Jacy Jayne. She and Jayne won the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship twice before the group imploded, leading to a heated feud that culminated in matches such as a Steel Cage Match in May 2023. Kelly was released from her WWE contract in May 2025.
Despite the struggles, she clarified her feelings were not rooted in a lack of gratitude. “It’s not that I wasn’t grateful to be there. But you—you can’t help how you’re feeling inside, whether you’re grateful to be somewhere or not. You can’t help how you feel.” (h/t Ringside News)
