Roode transitioned into the full-time backstage role in 2023 after neck surgery brought an end to his in-ring career. His work behind the scenes continues his involvement with the company in a non-wrestling capacity.
This backstage presence comes just two weeks after Roode made a prominent on-screen appearance at the NXT Homecoming special on September 16. During that show, he advised Joe Hendry to target the NXT Championship, marking a notable return to the brand.
Roode was not the only main roster star to appear at the NXT Homecoming special.
