Former WWE Employee Advises Colleagues to Quit Over Disputes with Vince McMahon, Poor Work Conditions (Exclusive)
Former WWE writer Vince Russo recently spoke about an incident with Vince McMahon that forced him to leave the company. He also lashed out at current writers for their anonymous accounts regarding the company.
Recently, six WWE writers spoke to Rolling Stone to discuss the toxic culture backstage when Vince McMahon was in control. They wished to remain anonymous as they spoke about sexism and bullying within the company.
This week on The Wrestling Outlaws, Russo urged these writers to step out into the open. He even said that they should leave WWE if they did not like the working conditions. The former writer then recalled how he and Vince McMahon had a disagreement over watching his kids and Russo finally left the company.
“Few things, either say your name or shut your mouth, okay. Seriously, it’s that simple. And number two, if you don’t like it, leave! When Vince told me to hire a nanny to watch my kids, did I stay there? No, I left. You don’t like it, leave. But to do an interview, I don’t understand the purpose of not giving your name. You’re not working there anymore, obviously. Why are you gonna be anonymous?” [From 4:05 onwards]
Now with Mr. McMahon gone, Triple H has taken control of the creative team and is WWE’s Chief Content Officer.
