Matt Hardy has publicly criticized the omission of himself and his brother Jeff Hardy from the 2025 Pro Wrestling Illustrated 500 list. The 51-year-old TNA star addressed the issue on his podcast, The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, describing their exclusion as a major oversight.

Speaking on the show, Hardy voiced his frustration, stating he could not understand the decision. “The fact that we have built such a brand and such a name as Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy as The Hardyz, the fact that we have been working a full-time schedule, plus trying to contribute to indies and whatnot, the fact that we aren’t on that list is an absolute injustice. Dirt sheets, quote me on that one.”

The Hardy Boyz have remained active throughout the evaluation period, performing prominently on TNA programming. In July, they captured the TNA World Tag Team Championship for the fourth time. Earlier in 2025, they also made a brief return to WWE’s NXT, competing against teams including No Quarter Catch Crew and Fraxiom.

The PWI 500 is compiled annually and evaluates talent based on the period from August 1, 2024, through July 31, 2025. This year’s edition once again placed Cody Rhodes at number one, cementing his second consecutive top ranking.

The list also drew headlines for the exclusion of Roman Reigns, who was deemed ineligible after failing to meet the minimum number of matches required during the evaluation period.
