Former WWE star Elias announces title pursuit at IWC Pittsburgh Classic

Elijah, formerly known as Elias in WWE, announced plans to challenge for a championship at IWC’s 7th Annual Pittsburgh Classic on December 7. The announcement came via a video posted on IWC’s X account, where he detailed his intentions to use his reset button earned from winning the 16-Bit challenge.

In his promo, Elijah teased multiple championship opportunities, including a potential tag team title pursuit with a mystery partner. He also expressed interest in the Super Indy Championship, currently held by Sam Holloway, referencing their previous encounter at Super Indy 23.

“Hello I am Elijah and on December 7th at the Pittsburgh Classic I will be activating my reset button, which means any championship at any time could be mine. Maybe on that night I show up with my very own mystery tag team partner. Maybe someone as close as my very own brother and take the tag team championships away from you,” Elijah said.

Elias reveals near-retirement following WWE departure

In a recent interview with Metro.co, Elijah discussed his frustrations during his final WWE run, which nearly led him to retire from pro wrestling.

Despite his popularity, his role became increasingly limited to brief backstage segments.

“The fact that I just kinda was relegated to like short backstage – it was so frustrating that I was like, ‘You know what? Maybe I’m done with wrestling. Maybe I’m just you know, I’m just over it.’ It beats that fun thing you have as a kid when you want to wrestle and you want to be in WWE. And someone like me, I didn’t like just to sit by and just collect the paycheck. I wanted to be in the mix,” he shared.
