Former WWE Star Released Earlier This Year Could Be Back In-Ring Soon

Former WWE star Dakota Kai is preparing for an in-ring comeback, as her name appeared on a gear maker’s public production schedule for October. This update comes only months after she was released from her contract on May 2, 2025, and officially became a free agent in July.

The listing was shared by Wicked Lester Clothing through an Instagram story. The company has designed gear for top performers including Rhea Ripley, Jade Cargill, Zelina Vega, and The IInspiration. Kai’s name was placed alongside active WWE talent such as Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, Shotzi, and Natalya.

Hints of a return align with comments Kai made during a Twitch stream. “I miss wrestling you guys. We’re gonna get back into it. It’s just one of those things where it’s been nice to have a little bit of a break. I’ve been doing it for a long time, longer than the last seven years I was with WWE, you.”

The 37-year-old’s most recent run ended earlier this year during company-wide cost-cutting. She was part of the Damage CTRL faction with IYO SKY, Bayley, and Asuka, winning the Women’s Tag Team Championship twice.

This marked Kai’s second exit from WWE. Her first release came in April 2022 after she informed the company she would not re-sign under Vince McMahon’s creative leadership. Four months later, Triple H brought her back at SummerSlam 2022. Before her 2025 departure, she was a finalist in the tournament to crown the first Women’s Intercontinental Champion, losing to Lyra Valkyria.
