Former WWE World Champion open to Royal Rumble 2025 appearance

Nic Nemeth expressed interest in making a surprise appearance at the 2025 Royal Rumble event. The former WWE competitor, who has been competing in TNA Wrestling since his departure last September, shared his thoughts on a potential return.

Speaking with Daily Star, Nemeth outlined his perspective on a possible Royal Rumble appearance:

A Rumble spot? Dude, that’s so cool. WWE’s killing it right now. To do something fun and wear my old trunks, get the old music to play, come out there and kick somebody in the face, that would be awesome. But the most important thing, it would just be creating a viral moment, so I could talk about TNA. That’s the only reason I’d want to do it. It’d be cool to see some old friends.

Nemeth’s wrestling career with WWE spanned 19 years, beginning at Ohio Valley Wrestling in 2004. His main roster journey included multiple character iterations, from his role as Nicky in the Spirit Squad to his later success as Dolph Ziggler. Throughout his tenure, he captured the World Heavyweight Championship twice, alongside reigns as NXT Champion, Intercontinental Champion, and United States Champion.

Following the formation of TKO Group on September 12, 2023, Nemeth departed WWE. Since then, he has expanded his presence across multiple promotions, including TNA Wrestling, New Japan Pro-Wrestling, and AAA in Mexico.

The possibility of Nemeth’s appearance gains credibility through TNA Wrestling’s existing collaboration with NXT. If materialized, he would join the ranks of TNA champions Mickie James and Jordynne Grace, who previously participated in Royal Rumble matches. The 2025 edition is scheduled for February 1 at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.

John Cena targets historic achievement at Royal Rumble

John Cena’s pursuit of wrestling history could reach its pinnacle at Royal Rumble 2025. The 16-time world champion has an opportunity to break his tie with Ric Flair for most world championship victories when he returns on RAW’s Netflix premiere.

The potential clash with Gunther at the Royal Rumble would mark 2,925 days since Cena’s last WWE Championship victory at the 2017 event.

At 47 years old, Cena aims to overcome one of WWE’s most dominant champions to secure his place in wrestling history.
