Former WWE writer criticizes Cody Rhodes' absence at Survivor Series
Former WWE writer Freddie Prinze Jr. discusses Triple H’s decision to exclude Cody Rhodes from Survivor Series, comparing the booking strategy to John Cena’s championship era.

Former WWE writer Freddie Prinze Jr. has questioned Triple H’s creative decision to keep Cody Rhodes off the Survivor Series: WarGames card, suggesting it breaks from established championship booking patterns.
The ongoing rivalry between Rhodes and Kevin Owens led many fans to anticipate a confrontation at the premium live event. Despite a heated exchange on SmackDown that culminated in Rhodes challenging Owens to a fight, their match was scheduled for Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 14, 2024, rather than Survivor Series.
Speaking on Wrestling with Freddie podcast, Prinze Jr. drew parallels between Rhodes’ current position and John Cena’s championship era. “I feel like I kinda missed it. I think he should always have a match at the pay-per-view. The champ should always be representing the brand, right? Am I wrong?”
The former writer reinforced his point by referencing WWE’s past booking practices. “I feel like in the John Cena era, there was not a pay-per-view that John Cena wasn’t on. I can’t think of one off the top of my head,” he noted.
