Gunther Reveals Challenges Faced Under Vince McMahon's WWE Regime
World Heavyweight Champion Gunther reveals difficulties from his brief time under Vince McMahon’s direction in WWE during Ariel Helwani interview.

World Heavyweight Champion Gunther has shared insights regarding his brief period working under former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon. During a recent appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, the champion described the experience as confusing and challenging.
Gunther revealed that his time under McMahon’s leadership lasted only four months and created difficulties in understanding creative expectations.
I was under Vince for four months and it was a strange working experience. The direction was very confusing. It was hard to understand what was expected of me. I usually don’t have a problem with that. In the end, everything worked out for me. I’ve been lucky in my career in terms of timing. I’ve always been a Hunter guy. That’s been my entire career in WWE. My directions came from Hunter.
The performer noted that cultural differences contributed to the challenging experience, particularly compared to his previous work in Germany. Communication issues compounded these difficulties, with Gunther revealing he only had two brief conversations with McMahon during his entire time working under him.
Despite these obstacles, Gunther acknowledged that things ultimately worked out favorably for his WWE run. He emphasized that most of his career guidance has come from Triple H rather than McMahon, creating a more consistent creative direction for his character and in-ring presentation.
These comments provide rare insight into the internal creative process differences between WWE’s former chairman and its current leadership structure.
