The questions surrounding Pat McAfee’s status with WWE have been answered by the man himself, confirming he remains with the company but is taking a temporary break. His absence continued on this past Monday’s episode of WWE RAW, where he was not present at the commentary desk for the third consecutive week.
During the July 7 broadcast from Providence, Rhode Island, Michael Cole handled the commentary duties, and McAfee’s absence was not addressed on the show. His last appearance was at Money in the Bank on June 7.
McAfee recently addressed the time off on his weekly show, stating he was taking a break to recharge from a demanding schedule that had left him feeling exhausted.
“I will not be commentating. Continuing to just like kinda catch up on life as a whole,” McAfee explained. “You know, post-Money in the Bank, pre-Night of Champions. Feels like a good time. I was getting pretty exhausted there. So, shout out to everybody in WWE looking out for me, too. Very, very thankful.”
His comments affirm the absence is a temporary measure. While fans on social media have noted his absence, both McAfee and WWE appear to be on the same page regarding the break. Since his hiatus began, Corey Graves and Wade Barrett have filled in on commentary.
No official date for his return has been announced.
