How WWE stars prepare for ladder matches? 5-time world champion explains all
Seth Rollins reveals detailed planning process behind WWE ladder matches, emphasizing safety measures and physical demands on performers.
Seth Rollins detailed the extensive preparation required for WWE ladder matches, emphasizing safety protocols and advance planning during his appearance on the Jason Khalipa Podcast.
“The ladder match that you mentioned, that’s a different animal. So if there’s seven guys and a bunch of ladders and crazy stunts, the amount of on-the-fly [adjustments is] going to be very slim,” Rollins said. “Like that match is going to be talked about probably in advance, maybe a day or two, a week or two. And they’ll go over pretty much everything they’re going to do as sort of an ABCD order.”
Rollins, who won the Money in the Bank ladder match in 2014 and later cashed in at WrestleMania 31 to claim his first WWE Championship, highlighted the physical toll these matches take on performers.
“It’s just a safety level, you know, paramount. You got to make sure that people come out of that not—They’re going to get hurt because, yes, we are falling. They are real ladders. Accidents do happen. You get a lot of bumps and bruises. You come out of those ladder matches, and your back is just beat to pieces.”
Rollins is scheduled to face CM Punk on the January 6 episode of RAW on Netflix, marking their first televised confrontation after their planned WrestleMania XL match was canceled due to Punk’s injury.
