Hulk Hogan Receives Grand Tribute from the State of Florida

In a tribute to the wrestling legend, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis declared August 1 to be officially recognized as “Hulk Hogan Day” in the state of Florida. The announcement from the governor comes days after the passing of Hogan, born Terry Bollea, on July 24 at the age of 71. Hogan’s son, Nick Hogan, shared the news via a social media post, which included a memorandum signed by DeSantis.

The governor’s memorandum also ordered all flags across the state, including at the Capitol and throughout Pinellas County, to be flown at half-staff on August 1. Nick Hogan’s post reflected on his father’s connection to the state, writing that the wrestler was “a true Floridian” who “loved his home state.”

Further details regarding the cause of Hogan’s death were confirmed by the Pinellas County Forensic Science Center. According to the official report, Hogan died of acute myocardial infarction, commonly known as a heart attack. The report also revealed Hogan had been privately battling chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), a form of blood and bone marrow cancer, as well as a history of atrial fibrillation (AFib), a heart condition involving an irregular and rapid heart rhythm.

Hogan suffered cardiac arrest at his Clearwater residence before being transported to Morton Plant Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The medical examiner’s office confirmed a cremation request had been received but did not provide a timeline. Fans and fellow wrestlers have been flooding social media with tributes since the news broke.
