Ethan Page issued a challenge to John Cena during an appearance on Busted Open Radio. Page’s invitation follows his recent backstage segment with The Rock at NXT New Year’s Evil.

I’ve shared the ring with Bully Ray, I’ve shared the ring with many Hall of Famers, many big names, many legends, many of the most dangerous men in professional wrestling. Just one step at a time to reach the top. The Rock is the top. I’m prepared for this. I’ve been prepared for this. I’ll continue to be prepared for this. There is not a single wrestler living that intimidates me.

Page directed specific comments toward Cena:

John Cena on this retirement tour, stop by NXT, pal. I’ll look you dead in the eyes. We can do something. There is not a single living, breathing wrestler that would make me feel anything other than excitement for the opportunity to take their spot and their money.

Cena previously appeared on NXT in October 2023. Page’s recent interactions include appearances with CM Punk, The Rock, and Bully Ray.

JBL Expresses Interest in Final Match with John Cena

JBL discussed the possibility of returning to the ring for John Cena’s retirement tour during an appearance on the Something to Wrestle podcast. The former WWE Champion reflected on their WrestleMania 21 match where Cena captured his first WWE Championship.

I was so happy that I was part of John’s formative career. And again, I don’t take any credit for anything John did. John would be exactly where he is now, with or without me. I’m just glad that I was one of the ones that was there at the start. But John’s such a great guy. Everything about him…the more you know about John, from his Make-A-Wish, what he does, to how he interacts with fans, to how he interacts with talent, what he’s done with talent, it’s just amazing. So yeah, of course [I’d like one more crack at him].

Ethan Page would be really fun. I think Trick would be really fun. I’m trying to think of one you haven’t seen yet. Ricky Starkz [Ricky Saints] has just joined. I just saw that. Starkz was always kinda on that list where I missed him. He was always in another company or whatever, but he’s definitely at the top of that list too.

Breeze’s last WWE match aired on the June 15, 2021, episode of NXT where he teamed with Fandango to defeat Imperium’s Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel, now known as Giovanni Vinci and Ludwig Kaiser.

Multiple AEW wrestlers expressed increased interest in WWE as a potential destination. Lucha Libre Online reports that two talents specifically plan to explore free agency in 2025, with WWE as their primary focus.

Our sources confirm to us that there are several AEW talents who do not feel comfortable with their role in the company. These talents did not dare to explore WWE as a real alternative due to the feeling of uncertainty of getting lost in the “monster system that is WWE.”

The success of former AEW talents in WWE, including Ethan Page and Lexis King, appears to have shifted perceptions. The report indicates that having AEW experience now serves as a valuable bargaining tool for negotiations.

WWE Officials Show Strong Interest in Malakai Black

Malakai Black’s potential free agency draws WWE’s attention, with his AEW contract reportedly ending in early 2025. PWTorch reports that WWE views Black as a possible top singles competitor.
