Injury Forces Last-Minute Change to WWE NXT No Mercy Title Match

Lainey Reid has been pulled from her scheduled WWE Speed Women’s Championship contest at NXT No Mercy due to injury. Shawn Michaels confirmed that reigning champion Sol Ruca will still put her title on the line, now against a mystery challenger at the premium live event.

The announcement came through social media, with Michaels delivering an official update based on the company’s medical team. “Some late breaking news, I was just informed by our medical team that late last night, Lainey Reid was injured during training. Therefore she is not medically cleared to compete tonight for the Speed Championship. That being said, Sol Ruca will still defend the Speed Championship tonight at No Mercy. Tune in to find out exactly who her opponent will be.”

Reid’s removal is the second significant injury impacting the No Mercy lineup. Earlier in the Countdown to NXT No Mercy pre-show, it was confirmed that Jordynne Grace will step into her weaponized steel cage bout with Blake Monroe despite carrying a broken thumb.

Grace has received medical clearance but must compete with a protective cast on her hand. The stipulation ensures she will enter the dangerous environment already at a disadvantage.

Commentator Roberts added that the injury might actually push Grace to adopt a more aggressive approach once the cage door shuts.
