Jeff Hardy is preparing to unleash his dark alter ego once again. The current TNA World Tag Team Champion revealed that a return for the enigmatic “Willow” character is on the horizon and that he is already developing creative plans for the persona’s future.
Speaking on a recent episode of The Angle podcast, Hardy confirmed his intentions. “I have a feeling Willow will reemerge at some point, my alter ego,” he stated. “And on my TikTok I’m going to experiment with a conversation between present Willow and future Willow, so get ready.”
This tease comes just months after Willow reappeared on TNA programming. Back in April 2025, the character resurfaced to play mind games with Nic Nemeth in the build-up to the Hardys’ TNA World Tag Team Championship defense against the Nemeth brothers at Rebellion.
The character has a layered history within the promotion. After a series of vignettes, Hardy first brought the gimmick to TNA in 2014, feuding with Rockstar Spud, Ethan Carter III, Magnus, and Bram. That run concluded later in the year when Kurt Angle, then the Director of Wrestling Operations, requested Jeff Hardy return in his place for a battle royal.
Two years later, during the “Broken” saga, the Willow persona was used by Matt Hardy as a psychological tool against his brother. Several imposters dressed as Willow attacked Jeff before Matt revealed himself as one of the figures, part of his plan to “delete” the man then known as “Brother Nero.” According to records, Jeff Hardy’s last official match as Willow was in April 2016.
The Willow character predates Hardy’s time in TNA, originating as “Will-O-The-Wisp” during his and Matt’s time running their own Trampoline Wrestling Federation and later appearing in their OMEGA promotion.
While fans await the full re-emergence of Willow, Jeff and Matt Hardy are scheduled for a major upcoming match. The brothers will face Team 3D at TNA Bound for Glory 2025.
