Jim Ross has officially signed a new one-year contract to remain with All Elite Wrestling. The legendary announcer confirmed the deal himself on his Grilling JR podcast, putting an end to recent speculation about his future.
On the podcast, Ross detailed that the new agreement runs until August 2026 and includes a reduced schedule. He expects to provide commentary for all AEW pay-per-views while making other occasional television appearances, a change he welcomed.
The 73-year-old expressed his satisfaction with the new terms, which allow him to “recharge my batteries.” Ross noted that he and AEW President Tony Khan finalized the details in London during the weekend of Forbidden Door, stating, “I’m happy with my deal. I’m happy to go back to working with Tony [Khan].”
While Ross affirmed his commitment to AEW, he also directly addressed the rumors of a potential return to WWE.
He confirmed on his podcast that there were no discussions with WWE about a return. “I haven’t talked to them. No plans to go back,” Ross stated, clarifying that the decision wasn’t due to animosity but rather his current contentment with his role and schedule at AEW.
Jim Ross has been with AEW since its inaugural year in 2019, serving as a commentator and senior advisor. He has been public about his appreciation for the company’s support during his recent health battles, including a fight with colon cancer.
