John Cena Match Teased By Rising Star Reportedly Nearing WWE Deal

TNA Wrestling’s Joe Hendry has sparked speculation about a potential match with John Cena during the WWE legend’s retirement tour. Hendry fueled the buzz by posting a photo from a recent Impact broadcast featuring a fan sign that read “Hendry vs. Cena.” The tease comes as Cena has just five dates remaining in his farewell run.

Cena’s next confirmed appearance is scheduled for WWE Crown Jewel on October 11 against AJ Styles, but the remaining stops on his tour are still open. Hendry is already known to WWE fans, having appeared multiple times on NXT programming. He also entered the Royal Rumble and defeated The Miz during recent European live events.

Hendry’s highest-profile WWE outing came at WrestleMania 41, where he was reportedly handpicked to face Randy Orton after Kevin Owens was sidelined with an injury.

He is not the only outside name linked to Cena’s farewell. On September 24, Cena teased a possible match with Matt Cardona by posting a photo of the “Indie God” on Instagram. The tease followed Cardona’s surprise return to NXT on September 23 alongside TNA stars Moose and Eric Young in a crossover storyline.

The potential Hendry or Cardona matches fit within the theme of Cena’s “The Last Time is Now” tour, which has seen him honor past rivals by using their signature moves, including the GTS, Spear, and Ankle Lock.
