John Cena shared an image of Don McLean’s American Pie album cover on Instagram, marking his fourth social media post since turning heel at Elimination Chamber: Toronto.

Cena earned his WrestleMania 41 opportunity by winning the Men’s Elimination Chamber match, but shocked fans by attacking Cody Rhodes after the Undisputed WWE Champion declined The Rock’s offer.

The assault saw Cena use various objects including a watch, microphone, and the WWE title itself to damage Rhodes. Following the initial attack, The Rock and Travis Scott also targeted Rhodes, with Scott delivering a hammer fist to the side of The American Nightmare’s head.

The American Pie album, released in 1971, contained hits including the title track and Vincent. According to one Reddit user’s interpretation, the song American Pie represents “this weird, metaphoric recap of the 1960s and how so many things changed so fast and how chaotic it all was.”

Cena’s Instagram bio states that images are “posted without explanation, for your interpretation,” maintaining his cryptic approach to social media amid his character transformation.

The alliance between Cena, The Rock and Travis Scott has dramatically altered the WrestleMania 41 landscape, with Cena now positioned for a potential championship opportunity against Rhodes.
