John Cena receives threat from former World Heavyweight Champion about his WWE Royal Rumble participation
Former champion warns: “I’ll ask Cena to choose muscle or bone, because I’m going to break or tear it.”
Drew McIntyre has sent a sharp warning to John Cena regarding his participation in the 2025 Royal Rumble. After Cena announced his entry into the traditional 30-man match during WWE RAW on Netflix, McIntyre didn’t mince words in expressing his intentions.
In an interview with the Babyfaces podcast, McIntyre expressed interest in a direct confrontation with Cena:
I want microphone time with him, and I want that Singles Match. I’ll make it happen one way or another.
McIntyre also recalled last year’s Royal Rumble, where he injured CM Punk:
The last person who crossed my path in the Rumble was aiming for WrestleMania, and I ended up tearing his triceps. Maybe I’ll ask Cena to choose muscle or bone, because I’m going to break or tear it.
WWE’s plans for John Cena at WrestleMania 41 become clearer
While McIntyre makes his threats, plans for Cena at WrestleMania 41 are beginning to take shape. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, backstage discussions indicate a possible match between Cena and Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
WWE hasn’t directly teased Cody Rhodes vs. John Cena for the title, but they’ve practically confirmed that Cena will pursue his 17th world title at WrestleMania, with Rhodes being the planned opponent.
Cena has two possibilities to earn his title opportunity at WrestleMania 41: winning the Royal Rumble or the Elimination Chamber. However, with McIntyre’s recent statements, his path may encounter significant obstacles.
