John Cena Retains Undisputed Universal Title In Match Marred By Interferences, Cash-In Attempt

John Cena remains the Undisputed WWE Champion, but his victory over CM Punk at Night of Champions came in a controversial fashion, decided only after a chaotic series of interferences culminated in a direct attack by Seth Rollins.

The main event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, which was billed as John Cena’s final career match in the country, descended into disarray after the referee was inadvertently knocked down. With no official to enforce the rules, the Money in the Bank holder, Seth Rollins, emerged alongside Paul Heyman, Bron Breakker, and Bronson Reed.

Rollins’ faction immediately targeted CM Punk, with Breakker and Reed brutally slamming him through the announce table. This prompted Rollins to attempt an official cash-in of his briefcase, but the incoming referee was intercepted by Cena. The ensuing brawl saw Penta and Sami Zayn rush to ringside to even the odds, neutralizing Breakker while Cena impressively delivered an Attitude Adjustment to the formidable Bronson Reed.

With the external threats cleared, Cena and Punk were left alone in the ring. The two longtime rivals shared a handshake and a hug, acknowledging the battle they had endured. However, the moment of respect was fleeting. Cena‘s expression shifted as he attempted a low blow, which Punk managed to block.

As Punk hoisted Cena up for the GTS, Seth Rollins stormed the ring, striking Punk with the Money in the Bank briefcase before delivering a Stomp. Cena then capitalized, tossing Rollins from the ring and pinning the unconscious Punk to retain his championship. The show concluded with Cena quickly leaving with his title, while Rollins watched from the ramp, his briefcase still in hand.
