John Cena won’t leave WWE completely after retirement from ring, reveals executive

Triple H has shared insights into John Cena’s upcoming farewell tour during his appearance on the “SI Media” podcast. WWE’s Chief Creative Officer detailed plans for Cena’s final year of regular in-ring competition, emphasizing the superstar’s dedication to making it a meaningful experience for fans.

Levesque praised Cena’s disciplined approach to the business:

John is of a different mindset for sure, most disciplined guy I’ve ever met … I think he’ll always be a part of WWE. I think it’s in his DNA. I think he’ll always do stuff with us, but in-ring, as a performer, I think when he is done, he is done

The farewell tour will span one calendar year, featuring appearances at live events, television tapings, and select Premium Live Events. Triple H noted that while Cena remains busy with other commitments, he has prioritized WWE appearances for 2025.

Cena Plans Character Tributes Throughout Tour

Speaking at the RAW on Netflix Post-Show, Cena revealed plans to incorporate elements from his past personas during the farewell tour. His appearance on the Netflix premiere already showcased this approach with regionally focused ring attire.

The 16-time World Champion outlined his vision for the tour:

The great thing about the farewell tour tonight, we debuted a new outfit and it was very regionally focused … The Prototype wore different colors, the colors of the home team so to speak. I’m really looking forward to trying to go back to the way I started and thug life, the Doctor Of Thuganomics John Cena would wear home or sometimes away jerseys

Triple H drew parallels between Cena’s approach and his own retirement tour, noting that the focus is on connecting with fans rather than achieving specific championship milestones. The tour will allow Cena to visit key markets and express gratitude to supporters who have followed his 23-year career.
