John Cena reached the final two competitors in the Men’s Royal Rumble match before being eliminated by Jey Uso. Following the match, Cena confirmed his participation in next month’s Men’s Elimination Chamber match, where a victory would grant him an opportunity to challenge either World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER or Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, depending on Uso’s championship selection.
According to PWInsider, Cena has returned to Budapest, Hungary, where he continues production on Matchbox. He will not appear on WWE programming until the Elimination Chamber event.
Matchbox, a production by Apple Studios, Skydance Media, and Mattel Films, features Cena in the lead role alongside Jessica Biel, Sam Richardson, Arturo Castro, Teyonah Parris, Randeep Hooda, Danai Gurira, and Corey Stoll. The film, which began production in January 2025, centers on childhood friends uniting to prevent a worldwide disaster. Additional filming locations include Slovakia and Los Angeles.
