Jon Jones praises former WWE NXT star and makes bold prediction
UFC Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones shared high praise for former WWE NXT star Gable Steveson at the UFC 309 post-show press conference. The champion expressed confidence in Steveson’s potential MMA career.
“He’s gonna be scary when he decides to do MMA. He knows how to make men appear very weak. Me being one of ’em,” Jones stated. He emphasized that after Steveson develops boxing and jiu-jitsu skills, a UFC title is inevitable.
Jones noted that any training facility would benefit from Steveson’s presence, whether in Albuquerque or elsewhere. “Whoever has him are going to be very blessed to have him. He’s an asset,” Jones added.
Steveson Makes Historic Return to College Wrestling
Steveson is returning to the University of Minnesota wrestling team. The Olympic gold medalist will complete his fifth year of eligibility, made possible through Olympic participation and COVID-related waivers.
This decision follows his brief stint with WWE, where he made limited appearances before his release. Steveson also attempted an NFL career with the Buffalo Bills during training camp. The University of Minnesota Athletics confirmed his return, with his debut scheduled for November.
