Killer Kross has stated that he and Scarlett Bordeaux are not necessarily a package deal for promotions. During a recent appearance on The Wrestling Classic podcast, Kross disclosed that WWE presented him with a contract offer that did not include Scarlett. He confirmed he was given 24 hours to accept the terms but ultimately declined the proposal. Kross and Scarlett’s WWE contracts officially expired on August 10, 2025.
The situation Kross described reflects the final week of his negotiations with the company. Reports indicate the solo offer was made just a week before his contract was set to expire. When Kross requested information on how the company arrived at its valuation for the deal, WWE was reportedly unwilling to provide the details and issued the 24-hour deadline to sign. The company’s plan was to address Scarlett’s contractual status only after Kross had re-signed.
Explaining their willingness to work separately under the right circumstances, Kross detailed his perspective on contract negotiations.
“Not necessarily,” Kross said. “Her and I, as long as the deal is fair and with respect and can be discussed with logic and rational communication, we’re open to working in and out of whatever is being offered. But like, if you come to me and you offer me something and you tell me that we’re going to exclude all of this information and you were to say to me that the revenue I’m generating for the company is not relevant to the conversation, well, some of my friends are dead or have broken their necks doing this, and I don’t want to be laid up somewhere in a hospital bed one day thinking about terms that I accepted when you told me that and I didn’t feel comfortable with it.”
The nature of Kross’s second departure from WWE has led to some fan speculation that it could be part of a storyline. However, Kross has directly addressed these claims, stating his exit is genuine. He asserted that he would not participate in an angle where losing his job is presented as a work, calling the idea to be in “bad taste.”
Kross’s last match took place at SummerSlam on August 2, where he faced Sami Zayn.
Now operating as a free agent, Kross has already returned to the independent circuit alongside Scarlett, with the pair having appeared for GCW. Their independent bookings are seen as confirmation that their departure from WWE is legitimate. Scarlett has also confirmed she will be returning to active in-ring competition.
