Kevin Owens Makes Major Revelation About Triple H's Role in His WWE Career
Kevin Owens reveals Triple H masterminded his heel turn after WWE Bad Blood 2024 in Chris Van Vliet interview.

Kevin Owens has revealed the creative force behind his character shift following WWE Bad Blood last October. The dramatic moment, which saw Owens attack Cody Rhodes off-air and was subsequently shared across social media platforms, originated from Triple H rather than Owens himself.
During a recent appearance on “Insight with Chris Van Vliet,” Owens clarified the origins of this pivotal moment in his recent WWE run.
It wasn’t my idea. It was Triple H’s. It was his idea. He felt confident doing it that way. I wasn’t sure. I was like, ‘I don’t know, are there going to be enough people there?’ In the end, he was completely right, there were people there and yeah, it’s just a different way of telling stories and he has a different mindset than Vince (McMahon) did. It’s really interesting, and people have responded well to it.
This approach represents a shift in WWE’s storytelling methods under Triple H’s creative direction. Owens pointed to his confrontation with Randy Orton as another example where WWE utilized a similar technique, later releasing “security footage” to advance the narrative.
Owens emphasized why such unpredictability matters in professional wrestling.
When it gets monotonous and repetitive, no matter how good the fights and the promos are, if you feel like you’ve seen it before… Back in 2008, 2009, I was an avid fan, but I started paying a lot less attention because I felt like it was literally the same thing every week.
