Killer Kross has responded to the fan chants and social media hashtags that called for his return to WWE programming following his departure. Speaking with Ben Veal on Wrestling Life, Kross stated that he finds these organic fan movements to be “very meaningful.”

He explained the difference between a storyline connecting with the audience and the audience choosing to support a talent independently of the company’s creative direction.

“It’s one thing when you’re given a creative direction and it lands with the audience and they’re happy with it,” Kross said. “When the audience is choosing you… and the audience is saying, ‘no, actually, this is our guy. This guy’s great. We’re picking him’. That’s pretty cool. I mean, I don’t quite think that like that has ever happened to me before… So it’s very meaningful.” (h/t Fightful)

The fan support Kross referenced began after his WWE contract expired on August 10, 2025. He performed in the company under the name Karrion Kross, with his last match taking place against Sami Zayn at SummerSlam on August 2, 2025.

On The Wrestling Classic podcast, Kross previously confirmed that he declined a final contract offer from WWE. The company had presented him with a deal that did not include his wife, Scarlett Bordeaux, just a week before his contract ended and gave him only 24 hours to accept.

According to Kross, WWE refused to discuss how they valued his deal and stated they would only review Scarlett’s contractual situation after he had re-signed. He declined the offer, and both became free agents. Kross and Scarlett have since appeared for GCW, and Scarlett has announced her own return to in-ring competition.
