LA Knight Promos 100% Scripted? Champion Reveals How Triple H Handles It
LA Knight admitted to facing occasional challenges with WWE management regarding his unstructured approach to promos. The current United States Champion opened up about his creative process during an interview with SportBible.
“Sometimes I get myself in trouble because I like to work a little more off the cuff and sometimes they [WWE management] like a little structure,” Knight said. “I try to meet them in the middle on that and for me, I want to listen and react instead of thinking of all this prefab.”
Knight emphasized the importance of authenticity in connecting with audiences. “Instead of going out there pre-planned, just being able to be authentically me has been a godsend,” he explained. The management’s response, according to Knight, has been measured: “Sometimes I have to meet them in the middle but for the most part, they’re like, ‘We’ll let you do your thing but just don’t push it.'”
Knight captured the United States Championship at SummerSlam 2024 by defeating Logan Paul. Following his victory, Knight stated: “Long overdue. I don’t know if anybody could read lips out there, but most of the stuff I was saying, you probably can’t say right now because it was a lot of ‘f*in right,’ and all that kind of stuff.”
