Even in the midst of a significant push against Seth Rollins, LA Knight is acutely aware of the forces that could derail his momentum, suggesting that backstage politics could be a factor in his career trajectory.
During an appearance on the Raw Recap Show, Knight was asked if he felt underestimated in the locker room. He dismissed that notion, framing himself instead as a known commodity whose presence is felt by everyone.
“You wanna talk about overlooked or underestimated or anything… I don’t know if I’m underestimated, I’m seen as the threat that I am. Whether that means somehow I get politicked or anything else out of my spot, maybe that’s what it is. Maybe there’s a bit of fear—I think I struck fear into people around here. But I don’t know, it’s not so much overlooked, we’ll just say maybe not brought to my fullest potential, if you will. But that’s coming.”
Knight has backed up his confident words with decisive action. On the July 7 edition of WWE RAW, he concluded the broadcast by laying out Seth Rollins with a BFT, escalating their rivalry just days before their scheduled match. The attack followed a brief period where Knight was written off television with a storyline injury in late June, only to return with a renewed focus on Rollins.
His string of appearances on RAW has fueled reports of significant backstage support for the SmackDown star to make a permanent move to the Monday night brand. This internal push is said to be amplified by interest from Netflix, WWE’s future streaming partner, in having Knight featured more prominently on its flagship show.
For now, Knight’s attention is fixed on his opponent. The ongoing feud with Rollins will reach its next critical point when the two face off at the upcoming Saturday Night’s Main Event.
