In the aftermath of his defeat to John Cena at Clash in Paris this past Sunday, Logan Paul has declared his objective met. While Cena got the pinfall, Paul took to social media to frame the encounter not as a loss, but as a success.
“I wanted a match with John Cena to prove that I not only belong in the business but can bring the best out of the business. Mission accomplished,” Paul wrote. “For me, last night was peak professional wrestling.”
The match on August 31, which was part of Cena’s ongoing retirement tour, concluded after nearly 30 minutes when Cena hit his signature Attitude Adjustment for the victory. The win marked Cena’s 99th at a WWE premium live event. During the contest, Cena also paid homage to rival AJ Styles by using the Styles Clash.
The feud leading to the Paris showdown began on an episode of SmackDown following SummerSlam. A confrontation between the two escalated into a brawl, which later set the stage for their one-on-one match. The bout was officially billed as a generational clash, contrasting Cena’s celebrated 23-year career with Paul’s rapid and controversial rise in WWE.
For Cena, the event was a career milestone, marking the first time he had ever performed in front of a live audience in France. He had previously expressed his excitement about wrestling for what has been described as “the greatest crowd in WWE history.”
Even without the win, Paul was highly complimentary of the 17-time world champion.
“Fair play to John, an absolute mastermind of the craft. He wrestles better than Pablo Picasso paints… idk if it’ll ever be understood how good he is,” Paul stated. “Although my hand wasn’t raised, I came away with more victories than I can count. Grateful.”
