The lineup for next month’s SummerSlam has expanded, with two new championship matches now official for the two-night event. Following a chaotic night on the July 18 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Jacob Fatu will challenge Solo Sikoa for the United States Championship inside a Steel Cage. Additionally, Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair are set to challenge Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships.
The “Blood vs. Blood” encounter between the two cousins was confirmed after a tumultuous series of events on SmackDown. The show began with the fallout from a car crash in the parking lot involving Sikoa’s faction, with Fatu named as a person of interest. After police cleared him of any involvement, Fatu returned to the arena and, alongside Jimmy Uso, brawled with Sikoa’s group in the ring. To contain the feud, acting General Manager Adam Pearce announced the Steel Cage stipulation, a decision that led to Sikoa himself being arrested at the end of the segment.
This high-profile match aligns with recent reports that WWE has “elite level” plans to establish Fatu as a top-tier star. The company reportedly sees immense potential in “The Samoan Werewolf” and is preparing a significant promotional push for him, with this feud serving as the launching pad for his ascent into the main event scene.
The conflict between the two stems from Sikoa’s betrayal at Night of Champions on June 28, where he captured the United States Championship from Fatu with the help of his new faction. Fatu had previously won the title at WrestleMania 41. The rivalry escalated on July 12 at Saturday Night’s Main Event when Fatu returned to save Jimmy Uso from an attack by Sikoa’s group, setting the stage for their climactic showdown.
SummerSlam takes place on August 2 and 3 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The current card is as follows:
