WWE Superstar Drew McIntyre has landed a major role in the upcoming Highlander reboot from Amazon MGM Studios. According to Deadline, the two-time WWE Champion will star opposite Henry Cavill, portraying Angus MacLeod, the brother of Cavill’s protagonist, Connor MacLeod.
The film will be directed by John Wick’s Chad Stahelski and reunite McIntyre with the director’s 87Eleven stunt team. Production was recently delayed after Cavill sustained an injury during training, with filming now scheduled to begin in early 2026.
McIntyre joins a cast that includes Russell Crowe, Karen Gillan, and fellow WWE alumnus Dave Bautista. The project also reunites McIntyre and Bautista on screen, following their previous work together in The Killer’s Game, which marked McIntyre’s feature film debut.
The reboot reimagines the 1986 fantasy action film that starred Christopher Lambert as an immortal Scottish warrior fighting through the centuries. The original movie spawned multiple sequels and a television series that debuted in 1992.
While expanding into Hollywood, McIntyre continues to be a main event fixture in WWE. He recently challenged Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at the Wrestlepalooza premium live event. McIntyre also remains notable as the 2020 Royal Rumble winner.
