WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio is reportedly nearing an in-ring return after months on the shelf. A new report from PWInsider Elite states that Mysterio is expected to be at the WWE Performance Center in the coming week to finalize his return protocol.
Mysterio has been out of action since suffering a torn groin during a six-man tag team match on the April 18 episode of SmackDown. The injury required surgery and ultimately forced him out of a planned marquee match against El Grande Americano at WrestleMania 41, where Rey Fenix served as his replacement.
The timing of this news adds a compelling layer of intrigue, as WWE and Lucha Libre AAA are co-promoting the Worlds Collide event tonight in Las Vegas. The card notably features a high-stakes match with Mysterio’s son, Dominik Mysterio, immediately fueling speculation about a potential appearance.
While he has been unable to compete, Mysterio has not been entirely absent, making sporadic backstage appearances and also showing up at AAA’s TripleMania XXXIII event during his recovery period.
