Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select has denied rumors claiming John Cena’s heel turn storyline involves Make-A-Wish Foundation connections. During the March 18 Fightful Select Q&A, Sapp addressed an online rumor suggesting WWE had trademarked the phrase “Break A Wish” for Cena’s new character direction.
That was a fake story credited to us. It’s not a real thing.

This confirmation clarifies that Cena’s character change at Elimination Chamber has no connection to his extensive charity work with the organization.
Sapp also revealed that WWE is intentionally keeping details about Cena’s presentation for his upcoming RAW appearance confidential. The company views this uncertainty as a drawing point for viewership.
They are playing it close to the vest, as they should. It’s a major attraction point to tune in. I’ve been asking about his theme, I’ve been asking about everything.
Meanwhile, Billi Bhatti of The Wrestling Informer Podcast reported one creative pitch for Cena’s return involves R-Truth. The concept would feature Truth confronting Cena over his betrayal of Cody Rhodes, followed by Cena attacking Truth to further establish his villainous character.
Cena has already begun teasing his new persona on social media platforms. He posted an image of Cesar Romero’s Joker on Instagram without caption and shared a tweet stating:
When someone is properly grounded in life, they shouldn’t have to look outside themselves for approval.
