Major Spoilers Leak for WWE SummerSlam

WWE has not made an official announcement regarding the main event order for SummerSlam 2025, but new promotional material on Peacock may have revealed the company’s plans. An updated banner on the streaming service features different headliners for each of the two nights, strongly suggesting which matches will close the show on August 2 and 3.

The banner for Night One showcases CM Punk and World Heavyweight Champion Gunther, while the graphic for Night Two highlights John Cena and Cody Rhodes. This placement in key promotional art implies these bouts are positioned as the premier attractions for the weekend at MetLife Stadium.

The first night’s potential main event pits Gunther against CM Punk in their first-ever televised singles match. Punk earned this championship opportunity by winning a gauntlet match on the July 14 episode of WWE RAW. This bout represents a clash of two distinct eras and styles, with Punk aiming to recapture championship gold following his return to the company.

For the second night, the artwork points to the Undisputed WWE Championship Street Fight between John Cena and Cody Rhodes. This serves as a high-stakes rematch from WrestleMania 41, where Cena captured his 17th world title. The match carries significant weight, as it is Cena’s final SummerSlam appearance ahead of his planned retirement and a pivotal moment in Rhodes’ ongoing redemption story after he won the King of the Ring tournament to secure the new title shot.

While WWE has yet to confirm the lineup’s final order, the new graphics on Peacock provide the clearest indication of the main event structure for the two-night event. Other confirmed matches for the weekend include Roman Reigns & Jey Uso vs. Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed for Night One, and a clash between Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu for Night Two.
