Despite speculation surrounding his involvement in the main event, The Rock is not scheduled to appear at WWE SummerSlam next month. According to a report from Cory Hays of Bodyslam.net, there are currently no internal plans for his return in the near future.
The Rock’s last appearance on WWE television was at the Elimination Chamber premium live event on March 1, where he was presented as the architect behind John Cena’s heel turn on Cody Rhodes. While he has been mentioned on programming since then, he was notably absent from the main event of WrestleMania 41, which saw Cena defeat Rhodes for the WWE Championship.
With a rematch between Cena and Rhodes set to headline the two-night SummerSlam at MetLife Stadium, many had anticipated The Rock would play a role in the story’s continuation. However, the latest reports counter that expectation, and with only a few television episodes remaining before the event, a sudden return seems unlikely within WWE’s typical booking strategy.
Further complicating his involvement were earlier reports of creative differences, including a rumored desire from The Rock to have Cody Rhodes turn heel, an idea that was reportedly rejected by the company’s creative team. The ongoing fan frustration regarding his absence from major events has been a consistent theme since WrestleMania 41, which featured fellow associate Travis Scott but not The Rock himself.
While a SummerSlam return appears to be off the table, the possibility for an appearance at a future major event like the Royal Rumble or next year’s WrestleMania remains a topic of discussion among fans.
