Major Update On Dominik Mysterio’s Future Amid WWE And AAA Appearances

A champion’s celebration is a time-honored tradition, but when the champion is Dominik Mysterio, it becomes another chance to boast. Fresh off his controversial win to become a double champion, “Dirty Dom” is already set to have his new reign honored by Lucha Libre AAA.

In a statement released Monday, the promotion confirmed the details of the festivities: “Dominik Mysterio (@DomMysterio35)’s celebration as the new AAA Mega Champion after #WorldsCollide continues and will take place on September 27 during the #AlianzasAAA Tour in Mexico City.” The event is scheduled for the historic Gimnasio Olímpico Juan de la Barrera.

This announcement follows Mysterio’s title win this past Saturday at the Worlds Collide supershow in Las Vegas. The main event victory over El Hijo del Vikingo turned chaotic, with heavy interference from The Judgment Day and a crucial run-in by El Grande Americano, who pulled the referee from the ring during a decisive pin attempt.

That distraction gave Dominik the opening to hit a frog splash and score the fall, adding the AAA Mega Championship to the WWE Intercontinental Title he already holds. The win, which ended Vikingo’s reign at just over 100 days, was made even more bitter for Dominik’s father, Rey Mysterio, who was forced by a pre-match stipulation to personally strap the belt around his son’s waist.

The September 27 show in Mexico City will also feature a notable non-title bout, as Faby Apache is set to face reigning Reina de Reinas Champion Lady Flammer.
