This Monday’s episode of RAW was already set to be a major show, but General Manager Adam Pearce has just announced the addition of a 17-time world champion to the lineup.
In a video posted on WWE’s social media, Pearce confirmed that John Cena will appear in Springfield, Massachusetts: “Monday Night RAW is live this week from beautiful Springfield, Massachusetts. And I am proud to announce the Springfield College Hall of Famer, future first-ballot WWE Hall of Famer, the never-seen 17, the one and only John Cena will be in the house on Monday.”
Cena’s return to the red brand comes only weeks after his last appearance on SmackDown earlier this month. On that night, his United States Championship match against Sami Zayn ended in a no contest when Brock Lesnar interfered, attacking both men. With Cena and Lesnar already set to collide at Wrestlepalooza, the ambush has only fueled their rivalry.
Cena’s involvement adds even more weight to a show that will also feature a high-stakes face-to-face between CM Punk, AJ Lee, Becky Lynch, and World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins.
Pearce outlined the rest of the card for the night: “And what could possibly go wrong when CM Punk, AJ Lee, Becky Lynch, and the World Heavyweight Champion Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins come face to face? Don’t miss it on Monday. Plus, Lyra Valkyria goes one-on-one with Roxanne Perez, and fresh off World’s Collide, El Grande Americano takes on Dragon Lee. And Penta one-on-one with Kofi Kingston. All that and so much more, this Monday live from Springfield.” (h/t Sportskeeda)
