Major Update Released on Kenny Omega’s Health Status

Concerns over Kenny Omega’s physical condition have been addressed following his demanding main event match against Kazuchika Okada at AEW All In: Texas this past Saturday. Despite a brutal 30-minute encounter, reports confirm Omega avoided any significant or long-term injuries.

The title unification match on July 12 was a physically intense affair, with Omega enduring a series of high-impact moves, including a twisting Tombstone Piledriver and an avalanche Full Nelson Suplex. Given the known severity of his recent health issues, there was considerable concern backstage both before and after the bout.

The positive update on Omega’s condition comes from Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful. During a Q&A session, Sapp addressed the widespread apprehension surrounding Omega’s health.

“There was a lot of talk going in about Kenny’s health and being able to do the Okada match. How’s he doing afterwards? And how’s the general health of the roster coming out of the show? There are admittedly some wrestlers that are banged up and some that will miss a little bit of time, but I didn’t hear of a ton of serious, serious injuries.”

This confirmation is particularly significant due to Omega’s well-documented battle with diverticulitis, which led to major abdominal surgery in May 2024 and the removal of a portion of his colon. He has spoken openly about the lingering effects, such as internal scar tissue that causes regular discomfort and forces him to acknowledge new physical limitations.

AEW programming leveraged these real-life health fears in the buildup to the match. An angle on the June 12 Summer Blockbuster special saw Omega stretchered out after a scripted attack by Okada and Don Callis that targeted his abdomen, amplifying fan anxiety about his readiness to compete.

While Omega ultimately lost the match after interference from Don Callis, his ability to complete the high-stakes contest without suffering a setback is a crucial development. His career continues on a match-by-match basis, with his long-term health remaining a primary factor in his future.
