Mercedes Moné Mocks WWE Fans and Praises AEW

Mercedes Moné has a clear message for wrestling fans who wish she was still in WWE: get over it. The current AEW star did not hold back during a recent Instagram Live session, directly addressing the segment of the audience that continually calls for her to go back to her former company.

Moné mocked the sentiment with a blunt statement.

“Awww I miss baby noises crybaby. You can watch Mercedes Moné every single week on AEW Dynamite, and in 10 days you can watch me at AEW All In when I become the AEW Women’s Champion. Thank you.”

This declaration is part of a broader effort by Moné to distance herself from her past and cement her new identity. She also told fans to stop referring to her as “Mercedes Hogan” and suggested a new nickname that aligns with her current run as a champion across multiple promotions. She would rather, she said, be called Mercedes Omega.

While she is focused on her own path, her support for women’s wrestling remains a priority, regardless of the promotion. Regarding WWE’s decision to bring back the all-women’s Evolution event, Moné expressed her approval.

“It’s about time. They waited way too long to have an all-women’s pay-per-view. But I love and I will always support and be a huge advocate for women’s wrestling, so I am excited for that and for the women that get to perform on that.”

Her commitment to advancing the industry for women is a mission she has spoken about throughout the year. In January, she described it as a life goal to secure equal pay, treatment, and creative opportunities for female athletes, positioning them to become leaders and entrepreneurs.

This “belt collector” persona is not just talk. Moné has been active across the globe, winning the RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Championship at the Tokyo Dome in January. As the reigning AEW TBS Champion, she defended her title against CMLL’s Reyna Isis on a special Thursday edition of Collision on May 21.

After walking out of WWE in May 2022, Moné considered leaving the industry entirely. Instead, she has stated the move ultimately made her the highest-paid woman in wrestling, and she now seems fully invested in building a new legacy with AEW, where she recently celebrated her one-year anniversary.
